Developer. Automator. Problem solver.

Making
complex work
simple.

I'm Nicolai. I connect systems, automate the repetitive, and turn real problems into working solutions.

01 / Selected work

Real problems.
Practical solutions.

A selection of my work connecting people, processes, and technology in an enterprise environment.

Systems integration

From HR change
to account update.

Connecting HR data with Active Directory so account information can follow the people behind it.

  • Automation Hub
  • PowerShell
  • Active Directory
Inside the project

The problem

HR and IT maintain information about the same people. When those systems operate separately, a personnel change creates another account administration task.

My work

I developed a PowerShell integration between the HR system and Active Directory through an Automation Hub, including matching data and access requirements across departments.

The purpose

A repeatable connection between business changes and identity administration, with less information to maintain by hand.

Identity automation

A more considered
account lifecycle.

Turning offboarding procedures into structured workflows, with checks for the things an account leaves behind.

  • Microsoft Graph
  • PowerShell
  • M365
Inside the project

The problem

Disabling a departing employee's account is only part of offboarding. Teams, SharePoint sites, and other responsibilities may still depend on that person.

My work

I build SOP-based PowerShell workflows in an Automation Hub for deactivation and scheduled deletion, including checks for Teams and SharePoint ownership.

The purpose

Make the required steps repeatable and bring dependencies into the process before an account is removed.

Process improvement

Access with
accountability.

A consultant renewal process that puts the decision with the responsible person and automates the follow-up.

  • PowerShell
  • Approval workflows
Inside the project

The problem

External access needs someone to decide whether it is still required. A renewal should have a clear owner and an explicit decision.

My work

I implemented a PowerShell-driven consultant renewal and approval flow, requiring the responsible person to approve continued access.

The purpose

Connect the access decision to business ownership and make the renewal process part of day-to-day operations.

Tools I work with

  • PowerShell
  • Microsoft Graph
  • Entra ID
  • SQL Server
  • Laravel
  • Docker

02 / Architecture & approach

Good architecture
starts with a
better question.

I bring a critical eye to system architecture: challenging assumptions, weighing trade-offs, and turning complex requirements into a concrete design.

  1. 01

    Find the friction.

Understand the process, the people, and where work gets stuck. Ask what needs to change before choosing a tool.

  2. 02

    Think in systems.

Map data flows and dependencies. Evaluate security, reliability, and maintainability before deciding how the components should fit together.

  3. 03

    Design for real operations.

Consider what happens when a dependency fails, requirements change, or someone else takes over. Build solutions people can operate and maintain.

03 / The person behind the work

An IT mindset.
A developer's
curiosity.

I'm Nicolai Grundtvig Ibsen, an IT professional, software developer, and entrepreneur based near Sønderborg, Denmark.

My work sits where IT operations meets software development. At BHJ A/S, I develop reusable PowerShell modules, API integrations, and identity workflows across Microsoft 365 and on-premises systems. I bring these processes together in an Automation Hub to make administration more consistent and easier to manage.

As a partner at OnCloud ApS, I also work on customer-driven software and SaaS projects. I like understanding how a business works and finding the places where better software can make a difference.
